Unchain Credit
Privacy & POPIA notice
Unchain Credit processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013.
Information we collect
We collect your name, contact details, marital status, income information, credit account information and any documents you choose to upload, such as a credit report, payslip or identity document.
Why we process it
Your information is processed for the purpose of assessing a potential debt counselling application, preparing an indicative repayment estimate and contacting you about that application.
How documents are stored
Uploaded documents are stored in private, access-controlled storage. Document links are never published and are only accessible to authorised Unchain Credit staff. Where a credit report PDF is password protected, the password is used only to process the document in that session and is not stored.
Sharing
Information may be shared with the registered debt counsellor handling your matter and, where required, with credit providers, credit bureaux, the National Credit Regulator or a tribunal or court as part of the debt review process.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, and you may withdraw consent, subject to legal and regulatory retention obligations. Contact us at privacy@unchain.credit.
